The Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota has compiled the following resources to help assist immigrants, refugees, advocates, and organizers in knowing your rights, preparing for the future, and meeting basic needs.
Pamphlet (Minnesota Association for Children's Mental Health): When children are afraid of a parent's deportation. This pamphlet contains concrete steps to support children’s sense of safety, positive identity, and healthy relationships during an uncertain time.
There are several resources available for immigrants and newcomers to Minnesota with health care needs, including health care insurance coverage.
Minnesota Department of Health Resources for Nonrefugee Migrants and Newcomers: Nonrefugee migrants and newcomers enter the country in different ways and access health care at different points. These populations who are not eligible for benefits to the same extent as refugees may have additional challenges in accessing quality health care, including being unable to access state or federal benefits, being underinsured or uninsured, and being ineligible for work authorization permits.
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs): FQHCs are community health centers that provide free or low-cost health care services to individuals who do not have health insurance.
CLUES Information on MNsure: CLUES’ MNsure Navigators can help you compare different healthcare options and apply for plans including Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
The Refugee and Immigrant Helpline is a new service that connects callers to information, resources and supports in communities across Minnesota.
Helpline navigators value callers’ privacy and provide guidance people can trust. Here are ways that navigators can help you:
Connect people with resources and information about jobs, food, health, housing, legal help, English classes and more.
Provide referrals to Resettlement Network Services.
Answer any question on a caller’s mind—or help figure out where to start.
Navigators are available to help in multiple languages, including English, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, and more. Callers can say their preferred language, and the navigator will connect an interpreter to the call. You can reach the helpline by calling 1-800-814-4806, or by emailing DHS.RPO.Helpline@state.mn.us.
