October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Crime Prevention Month.
CornerHouse has provided the following resources to aid with preventing child abuse and domestic violence.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience physical violence from an intimate partner. When children witness domestic violence, they develop trauma from being silent witnesses. These children are more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression, struggles with academics, and difficulty forming relationships, and they may become victims of violence themselves. Warning signs of child abuse include changes in appetite or sleep, mood changes, nightmares, withdrawal from activities, and other difficulties.
