National Register of Historic Places

Minnesota properties may be designated historic through the National Register of Historic Places, or they may be designated historic by the state legislature and placed in the State Register of Historic Places. If a city has been recognized as a Certified Local Government it may designate properties within its jurisdiction as historic at a municipal level.

The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the nation's cultural resources worthy of preservation.
