Step 1: Determine your needs

This step involves the identification of activities in which you would like to participate. Describe the difficulty you have performing one or more tasks. For example, you want to make phone calls but are unable to dial a phone number or hold the phone to your ear.

What is assistive technology?

An assistive technology device, by definition, is any piece of equipment that is used to increase, maintain or improve the functional abilities of a person with a disability. But it is also much more than that. Assistive Technology can provide a way for people with disabilities to reach their full potential through increased independence, productivity, and integration into the community.
