Updated: Disaster Relief Grants Available for Minnesota Veterans and Families

ST. PAUL — Supplementing Governor Mark Dayton's Executive Order 14-11, the following counties are now eligible for Disaster Relief Grants from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs through Executive Order 14-12: Anoka, Chippewa, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Itasca, Kandiyohi, La Qui Parle, Martin, Marshall, Stearns, Wabasha, Washington, Watonwan, Wright, and Yellow Medicine.

PAUL — As a result of recent flooding and storms, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is offering Disaster Relief Grants for reimbursable expenses to Veterans in Beltrami, Blue Earth, Brown, Dodge, Faribault, Freeborn, Goodhue, Grant, Hubbard, Jackson, Lake of the Woods, Le Sueur, Lyon, Koochiching, McLeod, Morrison, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Olmsted, Otter Tail, Pipestone, Ramsey, Redwood, Renville, Rice, Rock, Roseau, Saint Louis, Scott, Sibley, Steele, Todd, and Waseca , per the Governor’s Emergency Executive Order 14-11.
Stolen Medal Returned to Family after Nearly Six Decades

The family of a Veteran killed in action during the Korean War will be presented with a Purple Heart Medal thought to be lost for decades. Commissioner Larry Shellito with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs will present the medal to family members during a small ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m.
