TPT Shares Stories of Service with All Minnesotans in Oct. and Nov. Twin Cities Public Television (tpt), the PBS affiliate serving the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, has partnered with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the Minnesota National Guard to bring viewers three new captivating documentaries that provide a look into the lives and experiences of Minnesota’s military members and Veterans.
ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton today announced that the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) will receive two federal grants totaling $36 million for the expansion, modernization, and improvement of four Minnesota veterans’ homes. These new grants will help expand the capacity of the State Veterans Homes , and improve the quality of life enjoyed by Minnesota’s veterans.
The Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) will be holding the 22nd annual Metro Area Veterans’ StandDown August 5 ‐ 6 at the Boy Scout Base Camp at Fort Snelling. Free on‐site assistance for homeless and underserved Veterans will include a VA medical clinic, hot meals, clothing, VA benefit information, hygiene kits, legal assistance (including court, federal and state tax assistance), housing and employment assistance, mental health resources, DMV, haircuts, chaplaincy, public benefits information, and more. There will be a free shuttle to and from the Fort Snelling Light Rail Station. Shuttles will also be picking up Veterans from local shelters.
