Governor Walz Announces Minnesota Among Nation’s Best States for Healthcare

7/29/2026 8:28:19 AM

[ST PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today announced that Minnesota is the second best state for healthcare in the country, according to a recent study from WalletHub.

“When we invest in the health and well-being of Minnesotans, we see improved health outcomes and lower healthcare costs,” said Governor Walz. “Minnesota has again demonstrated itself to be nation-leading in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes; part of what makes this state the best place in the country to raise a family.”

This comes on the heels of record work done by the Walz-Flanagan Administration to improve healthcare and lower costs, including overseeing record enrollment in state health insurance and reducing MNsure premium costs by 25%. The administration also reduced costs of prescription drugs like insulin and codified ironclad reproductive freedoms.

According to the study, Minnesota is home to the highest number of convenient care clinics per capita. The state also boasts the eighth best public hospital system in the country and landed as the nation’s seventh-highest life expectancy.

Compared to other states, Minnesota has relatively inexpensive healthcare strengthened by the work of the administration. Minnesota ranks fifth for lowest average dental visit cost and within the top ten for lowest out-of-pocket medical spending and monthly insurance premiums.
