[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz released the following statement today celebrating the announcement of Mayo Clinic’s $5 billion expansion in Rochester.

“Minnesota has long been an internationally recognized hub for academic medicine, research, and cutting-edge medical technology. Now, Mayo Clinic is making a multi-billion dollar investment to build on that foundation,” said Governor Walz. “I applaud Mayo Clinic for investing in Minnesota, ushering in the next generation of health care innovation, and ensuring Minnesotans have access to the best possible services and care.”

The expansion includes 2.4 million square feet of new building space, adding state-of-the-art spaces and technology to improve health care delivery and bolstering economic growth in Rochester. The $5 billion investment is estimated to support 6,000 new jobs and generate an additional $2 billion in economic output.
