Governor Tim Walz today signed Executive Order 23-12 renewing both the Governor’s One Minnesota Council on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity and the Governor’s Community Council on Inclusion and Equity. This executive order ensures both councils can continue their work making Minnesota a place where everyone can thrive regardless of who they are.
“Equity and inclusion remain top priorities of our administration. While we have made significant strides toward a more equitable and inclusive Minnesota, our work is not finished,” said Governor Walz. “The work of the One Minnesota Council and Community Council moves us closer to building a state where every individual can thrive no matter their background or identities.”
“We remain committed to centering the people most impacted by disparities based on race, geography, and economic status, and making sure that they are part of developing solutions to address those disparities,” said Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. “We will continue working to engage and empower those who have been historically left out of government. This work helps us build a more equitable, inclusive, and effective state government.”
The One Minnesota Council , established in the administration’s first executive order, and the Community Council , established in March 2021, worked together with state agency equity practitioners to develop a long-range plan with recommendations for a more equitable, inclusive, and accessible state government. This executive order will work to implement the long-range plan and will make sure that those who are most affected by state government decisions are involved and centered in that process.
