[ST. PAUL] – Yesterday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan convened the first meeting of the One Minnesota Council for Inclusion and Equity. The Council was established by Executive Order 19-01 to address diversity, inclusion, and equity in State government practices.
“I am committed to the values of One Minnesota at every level of state government,” said Governor Walz. “The Council exists to help ensure every action by our administration is done through the lens of One Minnesota. Disparities in Minnesota, including those based on race, geography, and economic status, are unacceptable. We must work every day so that every person who lives in our state can reach their full potential.”
“One Minnesota does not mean that we are all the same, but rather that we work across difference to improve the lives of everyone,” said Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. “Centering the people who are most affected by the decisions we make every day in state government is key to the mission of the Council. I look forward to working with the Council to tackle tough issues and move forward together.”
