[ST. PAUL, MN] – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that it is recommending four candidates for consideration to fill the vacancies in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. The vacancies occurred upon the retirement of the Honorable John P. Dehen and the Honorable Jenny Walker Jasper. These seats will be chambered in Anoka in Anoka County and Elk River in Sherburne County.
Madelyn Adams: Madelyn Adams is a senior attorney in the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, where she prosecutes complex violent felonies and cases involving sensitive victims. She also supervises attorneys handling juvenile delinquency matters, oversees restorative justice initiatives, and played a central role in establishing a restorative specialty court for youth. Adams previously served as an assistant county attorney in Washington County and as a public defender in the Second Judicial District. She began her career in adult criminal defense and appellate practice after serving as an honors clerk for Justice Bruce Zager on the Iowa Supreme Court. Adams remains active in her community through service on her local school board, volunteer work at naturalization ceremonies and children’s theater programs, and membership on state and local task forces dedicated to expanding fair and accessible opportunities for young people.
Jennifer Bovitz: Jennifer Bovitz is a shareholder and associate general counsel at Bassford Remele, where she defends professionals in complex civil litigation and regulatory matters. She previously served as an attorney at Burke and Thomas, a managing attorney at the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility, and a prosecutor of adult felonies in Dakota, Chisago, and Washington counties. Bovitz’s community involvement includes serving as board president of the Friends in Need Food Shelf, a mentor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, a member of the Washington County Community Corrections Advisory Board, and a coach for the Woodbury High School mock trial team.
Nathan Sosinski: Nathan Sosinski is the managing attorney at the Tenth Judicial District Public Defender’s Office in Washington County, where he represents clients in felony criminal cases. He was previously the managing attorney at the public defender’s office in Pine, Isanti, Chisago, and Kanabec counties and an assistant county attorney in Pine County. Sosinski’s community involvement includes serving as an instructor at the Minnesota Public Defender’s Office Trial School and as a member of the Washington County Community Corrections Advisory Board. He previously served as a member of the Criminal Sexual Conduct Statutory Reform Working Group, a board member for the Centennial Lakes Little League, a coach for middle school girls’ basketball and softball teams, and a judge for collegiate and high school mock trial.
Hassan Tahir: Hassan Tahir is a senior attorney in the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, where he specializes in the prosecution of complex violent felonies, including homicides, street-gang crimes, and armed robberies. He previously served as his office’s lead prosecutor assigned to the National Crime Gun Intelligence Center, a federal initiative targeting repeat armed violent offenders. Tahir also prosecuted cases involving domestic violence, sexual assault, and large-scale narcotics offenses. His community involvement includes volunteering at his child’s elementary school and with the Forest Lake Hockey Association.
