Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Announce Appointments

[SAINT PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the following appointments to the 2030 US Census Redistricting Program, Board of School Administrators, Board of the Perpich Center for the Arts Education, Council on LGBTQIA2S+ Minnesotans, Electricity as Vehicle Fuel Working Group, Great Lakes Protection Fund, and the Young Women’s Initiative.

Susan Brower – Minneapolis, MN 
2030 US Census Redistricting Program

About the 2030 US Census Redistricting Program: 
The 2030 Census Redistricting Data Program allows states to define voting districts and suggest census block boundaries for the upcoming census. It is responsible for delivering the redistricting data to the states by April 1, 2031. Each state designates a non-partisan liaison to communicate with the Census Bureau throughout the program, ensuring ongoing dialogue and ample time for planning and participation. The program also collects changes to state legislative and congressional district boundaries during redistricting.

The Electricity as Vehicle Fuel Working Group was created to evaluate, promote, and provide recommendations to facilitate the development and integration of electricity used as vehicle fuel within the state's transportation, energy, commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.

The Great Lakes Protection Fund is a private, not-for-profit organization established in 1989 with a $97 million pledge from the Great Lakes states aimed at enhancing the health of the Great Lakes ecosystem. It operates as a permanent endowment, using its funds to finance projects that restore and maintain the integrity of the Great Lakes basin. The member governors of the Great Lakes states elect a board of directors to oversee the fund's investments and support project initiatives.

About the Young Women's Initiative:  
The Young Women’s Initiative of Minnesota Cabinet is a partnership between the Governor’s Office, the Women’s Foundation, and the YWCA Saint Paul. The Cabinet includes young women and gender-expansive youth aged 16-24 to promote equitable systems that benefit all, grounded in the belief that when young Black, Indigenous, women of color, and people with disabilities in Minnesota thrive, families and communities thrive.  

The Governor and Lieutenant Governor are seeking qualified and diverse individuals who are passionate about using their knowledge, skills, and lived experiences to serve the state of Minnesota.
