PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today issued /governor/assets/2023_09_11_Writ_52B_Signed%20and%20Filed_tcm1055-591546.pdfa writ of special election to fill a vacancy in the Minnesota House of Representatives for House District 52B in Dakota County after the resignation of State Representative Ruth Richardson. A special election to fill the vacancy will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. A special primary, if necessary, for nomination of candidates for the office of State Representative for District 52B will be held on November 16, 2023. Affidavits of candidacy and nominating petitions for District 52B must be filed with the Secretary of State or the Dakota County auditor from Wednesday, September 13, 2023, until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

This special election date allows for the new representative to be seated when the legislative session convenes on Tuesday, February 12, 2024.
