[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today signed Executive Order 21-35, rescinding Executive Order 19-24. The Governor also signed Executive Order 21-36, amending Executive Order 99-12.
Earlier this year, Governor Walz signed Minnesota First Special Session Chapter 14, HF 9, Article 11, Section 5, one of the most comprehensive laws in the country codifying government-to-government relations and consultation with Tribal Governments. As a result of this important codification, Executive Order 19-24 is no longer necessary.
Executive Order 21-36 amends Executive Order 99-12, which established the Governor’s Council on Minnesota’s Lake Superior Coastal Program to assist Minnesota’s Lake Superior Coastal Program in its goal to preserve, protect, develop, and restore or enhance Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior. Executive Order 21-36 expands the entities that can nominate Council members to include tribal governments within the Lake Superior coastal boundary in Minnesota. Leaders nominated by tribal governments will add important expertise and insight to the Council’s work to effectively represent the interests of the Minnesota community and coastal areas.
The Executive Orders are effective fifteen days after publication in the State Register and filing with the Secretary of State.
