[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the following appointments to the Board on Aging, the Board of Firefighter Training and Education, the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet Advisory Council, and the State Advisory Council on Mental Health.

About the Board on Aging:
The Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA) is the designated state agency on aging for Minnesota and administers federal and state funds to deliver a range of in-home and supportive services to older adults and their caregivers. Its two direct service programs are the Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care and the Senior LinkAge Line. In addition, the MBA promotes state and local policies and programs to support older adults to age well and live well.

The Governor’s Children’s Cabinet Advisory Council, along with the State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Care, created through Executive Order 19-34 makes recommendation to the Children’s Cabinet. The Advisory Council has an important role in community engagement and bringing family and community voice to the cross-agency efforts of the Children’s Cabinet. About the State Advisory Council on Mental Health:
The State Advisory Council on Mental Health is charged with advising the Governor and all state agencies about policy, programs, and services affecting people with mental illness as well as educating the public about mental health across the lifespan. Members include individuals with lived experience of mental illness, parents and family members of those with mental illness, county commissioners, social service directors, advocacy organizations, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, legislators, and representatives of state agencies.
