Walz, Flanagan Announce Appointments

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the following appointments to the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board, the Capitol Art Exhibit Advisory Committee, Council on Disability, and the State Capitol Preservation Commission.

Alicia Belton – Minneapolis, MN

Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board

Member

Effective: March 3, 2021

Term Expires: January 6, 2025

About the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board:

The Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board serves as the official zoning authority for the area surrounding the State Capitol, and also has authority for design reviews and approval for State buildings, memorials, artwork in and around the area and other physical improvements in the Capitol area.

About the Capitol Art Exhibit Advisory Committee:

The Capitol Art Exhibit Advisory Committee advises and makes recommendations to the State Capitol Preservation Commission on temporary art exhibits in the Capitol’s gallery spaces. The Committee receives proposals from Minnesota artists, art organizations, and other individuals, and prepares a list of recommendations for consideration by the Commission.

About the State Capitol Preservation Commission:

The State Capitol Preservation Commission coordinates the restoration, protection, risk management, and preservation of the Capitol building, reviews and modifies the restoration plan periodically, and implements a comprehensive financial plan to fund the preservation and restoration of the Capitol building.
