Walz, Flanagan Announce Appointments

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the following appointments to the Board of the Minnesota State Academies, the Governor’s Residence Council, the Metro Area Water Supply Advisory Committee, and the Statewide Independent Living Council.

The Board of the Minnesota State Academies governs the state academies for the deaf and blind. The Board promotes academic standards based on high expectations and an assessment system to measure academic performance toward the achievement of those standards.

About the Metropolitan Area Water Supply Advisory Committee

The Metropolitan Area Water Supply Advisory Committee provides advice and assistance to the Metropolitan Council in its water supply planning activities. The Committee is also responsible for appointing a 15-member Water Supply Technical Advisory Committee to provide scientific and engineering expertise to inform the Metropolitan Area Water Supply Advisory Committee’s work.

About the Statewide Independent Living Council

The Statewide Independent Living Council is a federally mandated council under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. The Council jointly develops and signs the State Plan for Independent Living. The Council monitors, reviews, and evaluates the implementation of the State Plan. The Council also works collaboratively with the Centers for Independent Living and coordinates activities with other entities in the state that provide services similar or complementary to independent living services.
