[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz was recently recognized as a “Moneyball for Government All-Star” by the bipartisan national non-profit Results for America. This recognition comes as Governor Walz is working with his commissioners and state agencies to make sure state government is running as effectively as possible for Minnesotans.
“I’m working to make sure Minnesota is firing on all cylinders,” said Governor Walz. “The State of Minnesota is committed to being a good steward of taxpayer money by using data to invest in things that have proven to work and improve lives. I’m grateful to Results for America for lifting up Minnesota as a leader in data-driven governance.”
Governor Walz joins more than 250 Moneyball for Government All-Stars including current and former Governors, Mayors, Cabinet Secretaries, U.S. Senators, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, and other evidence-driven leaders from both parties. Minnesota was honored last month as one of the five Leading States in Results for America's “Invest in What Works State Standard of Excellence.” Minnesota was recognized for having made "significant strides towards creating a statewide ecosystem for using what works to achieve better outcomes."
Results for America chooses “Moneyball for Government All-Stars” based on their efforts to harness the power of evidence and data to improve results for the people they serve. All-Stars must be committed to:
This is the second time this month Governor Walz has been recognized by a bipartisan national non-profit for his commitment to results. A case study released by Pew on November 5 wrote, “Newly elected Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party and his advisers used [evidence of program effectiveness] while developing his first proposed budget in 2019. He included 17 evidence-based proposals totaling more than $150 million, an initial step in the direction Minnesota wants to go with data-driven policymaking.”
About Results for America:
