[ST. PAUL, MN] Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the appointment of Matt Schuerger to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC). Schuerger was first appointed in 2016 and will serve a term expiring on January 3, 2028.

“I am proud to announce the appointment of Matt Schuerger to a second term on the PUC,” said Governor Walz. “His commitment to efficient and reliable utility services that Minnesotans use daily has not gone unnoticed. I am grateful for his dedication to the commission.”

“We are excited to have Matt Schuerger’s continued leadership on the PUC,” said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. “I am confident that his technical expertise will serve Minnesotans well as the state navigates the future of energy.”

“I am proud of my work and accomplishments focused on reliable, affordable utility service that is increasingly clean,” said PUC Commissioner Schuerger. “I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to continue to serve the people of Minnesota.”

“Commissioner Schuerger has been a measured, knowledgeable, and strong voice for Minnesotans,” said PUC Chair Katie Sieben. “He is nationally recognized for his leadership and robust knowledge on the planning and operations of our electrical grid. I warmly welcome his appointment to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.”
