[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz issued the statement below on the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Andy Luger to serve as U.S. Attorney for Minnesota. President Biden appointed Luger in December 2021.

“I am excited to welcome Andy Luger back as Minnesota’s U.S. Attorney, and I look forward to working together to reduce crime and improve public safety in Minnesota,” said Governor Walz. “He has been a true public servant and champion of justice in our state throughout his career, and I am grateful to Senator Klobuchar and Senator Smith for prioritizing this confirmation.”

Luger’s confirmation comes as Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan continue their statewide public safety tour to discuss what their public safety budget – including $300 million for cities, counties, and tribes across the state – would mean for communities across the state. The Walz-Flanagan Budget to Move Minnesota Forward, released in January, includes numerous proposals aimed at protecting the health and safety of Minnesotans .
