Governor Walz Signs Three Bills into Law

3/4/2022 8:24:07 AM

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today signed three bills into law as passed by the Minnesota Legislature.

The Governor’s bill signing included:

Chapter 33, SF 2774 : Provisions Governing Disability Waiver Rate Setting Realignment

  • The bill is a technical reorganization of state laws governing the Disability Waiver Rate System, which determines the reimbursement rates for home and community-based disability services provided under Medicaid disability waivers. The bill strikes obsolete language and will result in statutes that are easier to amend and easier to read.

Chapter 34, SF 2957 : Retirement Annuities Payment During Employment as a Health Care Worker Authorization

  • The bill allows health care workers who are in a phased retirement or retired on a Public Employees Retirement Association pension or Minnesota State Retirement System pension to return to work without any impact to their pension. This exemption remains in effect through December 31, 2023.

Chapter 35, SF 1782 : Towns and Certain Political Subdivisions Establishment of Inflow and Infiltration Prevention Programs and Loans and Grants to Property Owners Authorization

  • The bill authorizes cities and townships that own and operate wastewater facilities, including the Metropolitan Council, to establish local inflow and infiltration prevention programs. These programs will help homeowners with the costs of inspecting, repairing, and replacing sewer service laterals to prevent sewer backups in homes and buildings.
