Walz, Flanagan Announce Appointments

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the following appointments to the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission and State Correctional Facilities Audit Group.

Brooke Morath – Plainview, MN

Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission

Public Member – Felony Crime Victim

Effective: November 17, 2021

Term Expires: January 2, 2023

Replacing: Abby Honold

About the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission:

The Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission establishes the sentencing guidelines that district courts apply at felony sentencing hearings, conducts related research and analysis, shares information, and advises the Legislature.

About the State Correctional Facilities Security Audit Group:

The State Correctional Facilities Audit Group must establish security audit standards for state correctional facilities. The Group must report the standards to the chairs and ranking minority members of the House of Representatives and Senate committees with jurisdiction over public safety policy and finance. The Group must also periodically review these standards and modify them as needed and review facility audit reports submitted by the DOC’s inspection unit. Within 60 days of receiving an audit report from the DOC’s inspection unit, the Group must make recommendations to Commissioner Schnell.
