Walz, Flanagan Announce Application Process for the Next Minnesota Gambling Control Board Executive Director

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced an application process to appoint the next Executive Director of the Minnesota Gambling Control Board.

This position is appointed by and reports to the Governor. The Director coordinates the operations of the Gambling Control Board. The Gambling Control Board oversees a $2-3 billion charitable gambling industry while operating on a $3.5-5 million annual budget. Charitable gambling includes pull-tabs, bingo, tipboards, paddlewheel, and raffles. The Director also represents the Board before the Minnesota Legislature and with other key stakeholders inside and outside of state government. The Director is responsible for leading the Board and assuring that the Gambling Control Board operates with integrity, security, and transparency in a manner that ensures public confidence.

Applications will be accepted on the State of Minnesota’s hiring portal until the end of the day on Monday, August 30, 2021. Per statute, the Governor will appoint a Director from a list of candidates submitted by the Gambling Control Board.
