[ST. PAUL, MN] – Today, Governor Tim Walz signed three bills into law as passed by the Minnesota Legislature. The bill signing included:
This bill will increase the payment for the COVID vaccine to the Medicare rate, preventing differences in reimbursement amounts from different payers. This bill presents no cost to the state because it relies on federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.
This bill requires lenders and servicers of a reverse mortgage loan to notify borrowers that they can identify an additional person to receive communications regarding loan defaults. It also requires the loan servicer to send communications to the borrower’s independent loan counseling agency. The bill will help avert foreclosures in situations where the consumers aren’t responding to notifications of money owed.
The bill prohibits life insurance companies from using the fact that an individual has been prescribed an opiate antagonist as a reason for cancelling, declining to renew, or charging higher rates to customers.
