Governor Tim Walz Accepts Resignation of Metropolitan Council Chair Nora Slawik

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today issued the following statement after accepting the resignation of Metropolitan Council Chair Nora Slawik:

“The Metropolitan Council is vital to the economic prosperity of our state. Chair Slawik brought an important perspective to this work as a former Suburban mayor. I thank her for her dedicated service to the people of the metropolitan region, and I wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

Chair Slawik will continue serving as chair for the next two weeks. Per Metropolitan Council bylaws, Vice Chair Molly Cummings will serve as interim chair until the Governor appoints a permanent replacement. The Governor’s Office will begin a search process, led by Pahoua Yang Hoffman, executive director of the nonpartisan Citizens League organization, to find a permanent Chair.
