[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today signed two Executive Orders related to the state’s COVID-19 response.
Executive Order 21-15 prevents the most recent federal COVID-19 relief payments from being counted against eligibility for programs administered by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Executive Order 21-16 rescinds five Executive Orders that are no longer needed, including Executive Order 20-03 , which had allowed the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs to place restrictions on visitors to Minnesota Veterans Homes. Now that the vast majority of residents and staff have been vaccinated, Executive Order 20-03 is no longer needed. Executive Order 21-16 also rescinds Executive Orders 20-05 , 20-41 , 20-57 , and 20-102 and amends Executive Order 20-82 .
“Getting the vaccine has allowed grandparents to hug grandkids again, and it has let Minnesotans get back some of the parts of life that they have had to give up,” said Governor Walz. “For our veterans, it means they can safely visit with their loved ones. I’m excited to announce that – because the vast majority of residents and staff have been vaccinated – visitor limitations on our Veterans Homes have been safely lifted.”
Executive Orders 21-15 and 20-16 will be effective upon the approval of the Executive Council, which is made up of Governor Walz, Lt. Governor Flanagan, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Secretary of State Steve Simon, and State Auditor Julie Blaha.
