Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Tenth Judicial District Candidates to Governor Walz

[ST. PAUL, MN] – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that it is recommending five candidates for consideration to fill the vacancies in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. The vacancies will occur upon the retirement of the Honorable Krista K. Martin and the Honorable Amy R. Brosnahan. These seats will be chambered in Mora in Kanabec County and Cambridge in Isanti County. 

Jennifer Bovitz: Jennifer Bovitz is a shareholder and associate general counsel at Bassford Remele, where she defends professionals in complex civil litigation and regulatory matters. She previously served as an attorney at Burke and Thomas, a managing attorney at the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility, and a prosecutor of adult felonies in Dakota, Chisago, and Washington counties. Bovitz’s community involvement includes serving as board president of the Friends in Need Food Shelf, a mentor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, and a member of the Washington County Community Corrections Advisory Board. 

Carrie Doom: Carrie Doom works at Sapientia Law Group, where she primarily practices family law. She also represents parents in child protection cases in Isanti, Pine, and Kanabec counties, as well as in Mille Lacs Band Tribal Court. Doom is an active member of the Isanti County Children’s Justice Initiative and serves as the attorney-coach for the Cambridge-Isanti Mock Trial Team. Her community involvement includes serving on the board of the Cambridge Curling Club. Doom previously served on the Anoka Ramsey Community College Foundation Board and the Cambridge Medical Center Foundation Board. 

Jacob Fischmann: Jacob Fischmann is a senior assistant attorney in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office - Adult Prosecution Division, where he supervises a team of attorneys prosecuting felony level violent crimes.  He also served in the Complex Prosecution Unit and the Community Prosecution Division in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office. Fischmann was previously an assistant county attorney with the Chisago County Attorney’s Office and an assistant attorney general in the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office in the Public Safety Division and the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. His community involvement includes teaching criminal procedure at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, serving on the board of directors of the Woodbury Area Hockey Club, and coaching girls’ hockey in Woodbury. 

Nathan Sosinski: Nathan Sosinski is the managing attorney at the Tenth Judicial District Public Defender’s Office in Washington County, where he represents clients in felony criminal cases. He was previously the managing attorney at the public defender’s office in Pine, Isanti, Chisago, and Kanabec counties and an assistant county attorney in Pine County. Sosinski’s community involvement includes serving as an instructor at the Minnesota Public Defender’s Office Trial School and as a member of the Washington County Community Corrections Advisory Board. He previously served as a member of the Criminal Sexual Conduct Statutory Reform Working Group, a board member for the Centennial Lakes Little League, a coach for middle school girls’ basketball and softball teams, and a judge for collegiate and high school mock trial.

Stacy St George: Stacy St George is the assistant chief of the Criminal Division at the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, where she has worked extensively in criminal prosecution with a focus on violent crimes. Through her role, she assisted in the development of the first Rule 20.01 court in the First Judicial District. St George previously served as the assistant head of the Criminal Division in the Anoka County Attorney’s Office and as an assistant county attorney in Isanti County. Her community involvement includes serving on the Forest Lake Athletic Association and the Forest Lake Boys Tennis Boosters.
