[ST. PAUL, MN] – Today, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan announced the appointment of Rebekka Stumme as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District. Ms. Stumme will be replacing the Honorable Mark A. Munger and will be chambered at Carlton in Carlton County.

“It is my honor to appoint Rebekka Stumme to serve as a District Court Judge for Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District,” Governor Walz said. “Her knowledge of the law and commitment to her community will serve the people of Carlton County well.”

“I was impressed by Ms. Stumme’s experience and qualifications for this role,” Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan said. “She is dedicated to approaching cases with a fair and balanced perspective, and delivering just outcomes for all Minnesotans, especially our most vulnerable.”

Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District consists of Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St. Louis Counties

About Rebekka Stumme

Ms. Stumme is an Assistant County Attorney in the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office, where she serves as an adult felony prosecutor. Previously, she was an Assistant Public Defender for the Sixth Judicial District, a civil litigation attorney with Halverson, Watters, Downs, Reyelts and Bateman, Ltd., and a judicial law clerk with Judge Mark Munger. She is President of the First Witness Child Abuse Resource Center Board and chairs the Education Committee at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ.

Ms. Stumme earned her B.A. from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and her J.D. from Mitchell Hamline College of Law.
