Office of Public Engagement
Engaging with Minnesotans, from all walks of life and across the entire state, is a central value of the Walz-Flanagan Administration. The Governor and Lieutenant Governor’s Office of Public Engagement’s goal is to meaningfully connect Minnesotans across the state to make our government inclusive, transparent, responsive, and proactive. It reflects the Walz-Flanagan Administration’s vision of One Minnesota. This means that we represent Minnesota’s diverse communities in conversation and in action. The Office is dedicated to enhancing opportunities for community participation in decision making and seeks to include communities most impacted by the decisions made in the Administration in co-creating policies and procedures.
Please reach out to us about the issues impacting your community. Our receptive team is committed to hearing and addressing your concerns. and translating them into action by the appropriate state agencies.
Who We Are:
The Office of Public Engagement is comprised of three functions: Tribal State Relations, Public Engagement, and Constituent Services. Together, we address the realities people in Minnesota are facing every day. We identify resources and leverage our connections with state agencies to help people with their questions, ideas, and concerns. We strive to create meaningful relationships and to collaborate proactively with people across the state.
Equity and Inclusion:
Our office actively works to remove obstacles and barriers for engagement to improve public awareness and involvement in the work of the Walz-Flanagan Administration. We are committed to ensuring that Indigenous, Black, Latine/Latinx, Asian and Pacific Islanders, immigrant and refugees, LGBTQ+ communities, persons with disabilities, Veterans, Greater Minnesota, and Minnesotans from all walks of life are active participants in our work. A major focus of our work is to connect the people who are affected by decisions made by their government with opportunities to provide advice, feedback, and guidance before those decisions are made.
How We Can Help:
The Office of Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan views public engagement as an essential tool to understand the diverse needs of people and communities across the state. We process calls, letters, and emails from constituents every day, and seek opportunities to establish proactive dialogue with the communities we serve through phone calls, meetings, and celebrations. We also oversee special projects such as proclamations and certificates of recognition.
