Seattle, WA — Since 1992, the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) has been celebrating October as Filipino American History Month (FAHM) across the United States. In 2009, the month was first recognized by the U.S. Congress, and in 2015, President Obama hosted the first FAHM celebration at the White House. We are pleased to share the official theme for FAHM 2025:

In honor of Filipino American History Month in Minnesota, the State of Minnesota ERG Minnesotans of Asian Descent (MEAD) https://mn.gov/mmb/ergs/join/mead/ is collaborating with MNDOT and Hennepin County to light both the I35W – Saint Anthony Falls Bridge and the Lowry Street Bridge in Minneapolis the colors of the flag of the Republic of the Philippines on October 1, 2025!

Please feel free to organize gatherings, stop by the bridges to take pictures, and to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the 1935 Filipino Repatriation Act and the 60th Anniversary of the 1965 Immigration & Naturalization Act, and represent our pride in Minnesota’s Filipino American History!
