In this session, we will explore the intersection between cultural identity and mental health, unpack the sources of stigma that are prevalent for people of Asian descent and understand how cultural values in Asian populations affect acculturative stress among individuals of Asian descent. The session will use interactive activities to help attendees recognize signs of mental distress, and learn practical tips on how to destigmatize to help live a more balanced life.
Jennifer Oh Bio: Jennifer Oh holds a Master's in Social Work from USC and is a practicing licensed clinical social worker specializing in intergenerational trauma with Asian American adults. With a deep understanding of the cultural nuances and historical context of Asian American experiences, Jennifer provides evidence-based healthcare information to help destigmatize mental health for people of Asian descent. In her private practice, Jennifer utilizes evidence-based interventions such as EMDR and DBT to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their experiences and work toward healing and growth.
