International Holocaust Remembrance Day event announcement
Date: 1/28/2025
Time:12-1:15 PM
The Jewish Culture and Heritage Employee Resource Group wishes to note that on January 27th, the world comes together to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day, a solemn occasion to honor the memory of the six million Jews and millions of others who perished during the Holocaust, as well as the survivors who lived to tell their stories. This year’s observance emphasizes the importance of preserving the lessons of history, ensuring that such atrocities are never repeated.
The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27—the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau—as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It serves as a day of reflection, education, and remembrance, a time for communities around the world to unite in the fight against hate, intolerance, and discrimination. The theme for Holocaust Remembrance, “Never Again,” reinforces the need for vigilance against the rise of anti-Semitism, racism, and all forms of bigotry. Educational programs, survivor testimonies, and memorial events across the globe aim to keep the stories of the victims alive for future generations, ensuring that their legacies endure.
