About the CBCP

News

The Criminal Background Check Program (CBCP) has moved! Our new address is 335 Randolph Ave, Suite 180, St Paul, MN 55102. Anything mailed to our previous address on University Avenue will be forwarded to the new address.

SPECIAL NOTICE RELATED TO COVID 19:

The CBC requirement is not currently modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants who followed modified background check procedures prior to April 1, 2021, should follow the instructions previously sent to them for submitting fingerprint-based materials.

CBC Processing Delays

NOTICE: Due to COVID-19, we are experiencing a higher volume of CBC requests, processing additional follow-up steps for previous alternate background check procedures, and continuing to adapt to health guidelines as they are updated. It can take up to two weeks for paperwork received in our office to be processed and an additional three weeks to receive the report.

Effective January 1, 2019, the FBI has increased the cost of the CBC from $17.00 to $18.25. As a result, the total CBC fee (included with your board application fees) is now $33.25.

Who We Are:

The Criminal Background Check Program (CBCP) provides criminal background check (CBC) services to sixteen of the Minnesota Health Related Licensing Boards (MRLBs).

What We Do:

The CBCP collects and processes the fingerprints and forms required to complete a CBC for anyone who has applied for initial licensure with one of the MRLBs or is having their license reinstated, or as part of a licensure-related investigation.

Please Note: The CBCP is unable to assist with a background check requested for any other purpose. Nor can we assist with a CBC prior to receiving a CBC request from the board. In most cases, the board makes the request to the CBCP after the application fee has been processed.
