Plaque Honoring 13th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry
During the Spanish-American War, this Minnesota regiment crossed the Pacific Ocean to combat Spanish troops in the Philippines. These brave Minnesotans served on the front lines, suffering more casualties than any other unit. Ultimately, twenty-three members of the regiment were wounded or killed in conflict with Spanish troops. With this plaque, visitors to the State Capitol can honor their service and remember their sacrifice.
