Minnesota Board of Nursing now accepting applications for APRN Licensure

Mary Chesney, PhD, RN, CPNP, was issued the first APRN license by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. On May 13, 2014, and effective January 1, 2015, Governor Dayton signed into law a bill that requires licensure for all Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).

Road Map to Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention

The Board participated in a Coalition of stakeholders to identify best practices and resources to prevent, identify and investigate controlled substance diversion.

Influenza Clinic Alert

The Board encourages nurses employed by or contracted to work for immunization clinics in Minnesota to be aware of the relevant laws and rules related to nursing practice and immunizations.

NCSBN Social Media Guidelines for Nurses

NCSBN has developed social media guidelines for nurses, along with a number of resources to help disseminate best practices.

  • Minnesota Board of Nursing now accepting applications for APRN Licensure
    October 13, 2014  —  The Minnesota Board of Nursing will begin accepting applications for APRN licenses on October 14, 2014. Effective January 1, 2015, authorization to practice as an APRN will require individuals to be licensed as an APRN and maintain current certification by a national nurse certification organization acceptable to the board.

    March 31, 2014  —  Amendment to rules governing program approval to revise the implementation date of national nursing accreditation requirement of January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2018 effective March 31, 2014.
