Mary Chesney, PhD, RN, CPNP, was issued the first APRN license by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. On May 13, 2014, and effective January 1, 2015, Governor Dayton signed into law a bill that requires licensure for all Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).
In collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Health, the Minnesota Board of Nursing is providing information to nurses regarding the Ebola and personal protective equipment (PPE).
The Minnesota Board of Nursing will begin accepting applications for APRN licenses on October 14, 2014. Effective January 1, 2015, authorization to practice as an APRN will require individuals to be licensed as an APRN and maintain current certification by a national nurse certification organization acceptable to the board.
