Deborah Haagenson, RN (President)
Registered Nurse Board Member

Deborah Haagenson, of Park Rapids, is the Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer at St. Josephs Area Health Services in Park Rapids. She was appointed to the Board of Nursing in 2009, reappointed in 2013, and currently serves as board president. Ms. Haagenson has been active with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing and has contributed to the NCLEX Item Review Sub-Committee since 2011, the Nominations committee in 1997-1998, the RN Practice Analysis Subject Matter Expert Panel in 2005, and the Executive Officer Succession Resource Committee since 2012. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ms. Haagenson's term with the Board of Nursing expires in 2017.

Jeanine Gangeness, PhD, RN (Vice President)
Registered Nurse Board Member

Jeanine Gangeness, of Bemidji,is the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Winona State University in Rochester. Dr. Gangeness previously served as the Dean of the School of Nursing at Bemidji State University. She has experience teaching in the Practical Nursing Program at Northwest Technical College, Bemidji,and a nursing background in pediatrics, orthopedics, telemetry, oncology, spinal care, medical-surgical and IV Float Staff. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (University of North Dakota), Master of Science of Nursing (University of North Dakota) and a PhD in Nursing (University of North Dakota). She has published in the areas of tobacco policy, case study design, and online nursing education. Dr. Gangeness was appointed to the Board of Nursing in 2013 as a registered nurse member with experience in baccalaureate nursing education. Her term expires in 2017.

Public Board Member 

Michelle Harker, of Rosemount, has previous experience serving as a public member on the Board of Nursing from 2007 - 2011. She earned a Bachelor of Science Business and Communications degree at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and has taught at Cathedral Junior High School, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, and Dakota County Technical College. Ms. Harker has also held positions at Hamline University School of Law as a Law School Admissions Office Coordinator/Counselor, Co-Director of Admissions, Director of Alumni and External Relations, Director of Registration Services, and Assistant Dean of Programs. Ms. Harker was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2014 as a public board member to fulfill the unexpired term and was reappointed in 2015. Her term will expire in 2019.

Joann Brown, of Appleton,is a registered nurse at Stevens Community Medical Center working in acute care. She has experience in medical surgical, emergency room, labor and delivery, post-partum, intensive care, as well as the role of charge nurse. She has also worked in long term care as a registered nurse and as an MDS coordinator. Ms. Brown earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls; and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ. She was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2016 as a registered nurse board member and her term expires in 2020.

Cindy DeJarlais, LPN
Licensed Practical Nurse Board Member

Cindy DeJarlais, of Pine City, is a Licensed Practical Nurse at Allina Hospitals and Clinics in Cambridge. Her previous experience includes urgent care, surgical scrub nurse and serving as surgery center manager with Lakeside Medical Center in Pine City. Ms. DeJarlais earned her Practical Nursing degree through the St. Cloud Technical College Practical Nursing Program at the Pine City Technical College campus. She is a past member of the Rush City School Board. She was appointed to the Board of Nursing in 2010, reappointed in 2013, and her term expires in 2017.

Sakeena Futrell, of West Saint Paul, is a certified nurse practitioner at Park Nicollet Women's Center. Dr. Futrell's previous work experience includes labor and delivery and maternal child health. Additionally, she has worked as a public health nurse. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of St. Catherine and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Futrell was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2016 as a registered nurse member with experience as an advanced practice registered nurse, and her term will expire in 2020.

Becky Gladis, of Chatfield is a licensed practical nurse at Mayo Clinic, Rochester in the Pain Clinic and previously in Dermatology Surgery. She has experience in outpatient care, acute care, long term care, surgery and emergency room nursing. Ms. Gladis has a Practical Nursing degree from Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2015 as a licensed practical nurse member and her term expires in 2019.

Bradley Haugen, of Rochester, has previous experience serving as a registered nurse member on the Board of Nursing from 2007-2011. He is the Director of Nursing at Stewartville Care Center in Stewartville, MN. Mr. Haugen's educational background includes studying at St. Cloud University, a Practical Nursing degree from Anoka Area Vocational Technical Institute, and an Associate in Science of Nursing degree at North Hennepin Community College. He holds certifications as a Gerontological Nurse and as a Director of Nursing in Long Term Care. He was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2015 as a registered nurse member with experience in long term care and his term will expire in 2019.

June McLachlan, of Hermantown, is a nursing instructor in the Practical and Associates Degree nursing programs at Lake Superior College in Duluth. Dr. McLachlan previously worked as an Assistant Professor at Minnesota State University Mankato where she taught both in the baccalaureate and masters degree programs. While living in Canada, she served as a Regional Educator for Health Canada. Her educational background includes a Diploma in Nursing from British Columbia Institute of Technology Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada; Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; Diploma in Outpost Nursing from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; Master of Science degree in Rural Health Nursing from University of North Dakota, Grand Forks; Post Masters Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner; and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Dr. McLachlan was appointed by Governor Dayton as a registered nurse member with experience in practical nursing education. Her term expires in 2018.

Robert Muster, of Minnetonka, is the Midwest Regional Dean of Nursing at Rasmussen College. His previous positions included Dean of Nursing, Counseling and Allied Health at Minneapolis Community and Technical College; Nursing faculty at North Hennepin Community College; and Director of Practical Nursing/Faculty at Anoka-Hennepin Technical College. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (Bemidji State University); a Master of Science in Nursing Education (University of Minnesota); and a PhD in Nursing (University of Minnesota). Dr. Muster was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2015 as a registered nurse member with experience in associate degree nursing education, and his term expires in 2019.

Christine Norton, of Cottage Grove is a retired high school teacher. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY and a Master of Arts degree from St. Mary's University in Minnesota. Ms. Norton has served as a member of the Minnesota Community Measurement Board, the National Breast Cancer Coalition Board, the Piper Breast Cancer Advisory Board, the Breast Cancer Awareness Association Board and is a co-founder of the Minnesota Breast Cancer Coalition. She was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2011 to serve as a public board member, and reappointed in 2015. Her term expires in 2019.

Jan Rainey, of Minneapolis, is a Front Desk Coordinator for Larkin Hoffman Daly and Lindgren Ltd. in Minneapolis. Her previous work experience includes working as a Flight Attendant Trainer for Northwest Airlines. Ms. Rainey graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis. She was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2014 as a public board member and her term expires in 2018.

Public Board Member

Christine Renne, of Faribault, is employed at the Faribault Energy Park as the Environmental Health and Safety Manager where her duties include the development and monitoring of safety and environmental programs, policies and permits.  Ms. Renne has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Technology from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2012 as a public board member to fulfill an unexpired term, and was reappointed in 2013. Her  term will expire in 2017.

Sheila Robley, of Faribault, is a licensed practical nurse at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault. She has a Practical Nursing degree from Minnesota Riverland Technical College. Ms. Robley has served as an Executive Board Member of AFSCME and as a mentor at MN Department of Corrections. She was appointed by Governor Dayton as a licensed practical nurse board member in 2014 and her term expires in 2018.

Steven Strand, of Duluth, is a registered nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Essentia Health-St. Marys Medical Center. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at the College of St. Scholastica School of Nursing in Duluth. Mr. Strand was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2012 as a registered nurse member and his term will expire in 2016.

Licensed Practical Nurse Board Member

Eric Thompson, of St. Paul, is a licensed practical nurse at Signe Burckhardt Manor, a Minneapolis assisted living facility. His nursing practice experience includes long term care, rehabilitation, hospice care and behavioral consultant for adults with developmental delays. Additionally he served as a regional ombudsman conducting in-services on resident rights, standards of care and state regulations. Mr. Thompson earned his Practical Nursing degree through Bemidji Technical College and a Bachelor in Social Sciences degree from Saint Cloud State University in Saint Cloud. He was appointed by Governor Dayton in 2016 and his term expires in 2020.
