Self Advocates: How Should Staff Respond When I'm Frustrated?
Brian Jensen: They tell me to go in my room and then come back once I'm calm.
Mary Raasch: Take the person away from, other human beings. Or move them away so they can, be safe for themselves, for the person, and for the staff. I believe they should, talk to them calmly, tell them that, "Let's settle down a little bit."
Brian Jensen: They can ask me to go take a walk or something or just be by myself.
Mary Raasch: Take a deep breath and just kind of let it go all the way down and through your body and just relax, you know. Remove them from the other person.
