2016: Connect 700 Launches Job Seekers
Increasing the percentage of employees with disabilities in state government
In October 2016, Governor Mark Dayton relaunched Connect 700 at a press conference held in the Governor's Office. This alternative path to gainful employment connects job seekers with disabilities to state government employment without requiring them to go through the traditional competitive hiring process. Connect 700 is intended to boost the number of people with disabilities in the state government workforce.
Job seekers with disabilities can be hired through on-the-job training. They will be able to demonstrate their skills and abilities for a position for up to 700 hours before a hiring decision is made.
