Notice of Co-Sponsorship Funds for Leadership Training Conferences

The Minnesota Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities (Council) is pleased to announce the availability of a total of $20,000 in co-sponsorship funds to help with planning and carrying out leadership training conferences. We invite you to consider applying for these co-sponsorship funds.

Purpose: Best practices information and leadership skills training.

Dollar amount: Maximum is $2,000 to an organization or agency.

Conference date:  Conferences/training must be completed on or before September 16, 2022.

Applicants:  An applicant is the agency or organization that plans, organizes, and carries out a conference.

Eligible applicants include the following:

  • Minnesota associations/organizations that provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, advocates, providers, or professionals;
  • Minnesota chapters of national organizations that provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, advocates, providers, or professionals;
  • National organizations that are holding a conference for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, advocates, providers, or professionals in Minnesota

Conference focus: Best practices and/or leadership skills/development training to assist people with developmental disabilities to increase their independence, productivity, self-determination, integration and inclusion (IPSII) in the community. Training may be planned as in-person or virtual.

Targeted audience: People with developmental disabilities and their families, as well as advocates, providers, or professionals.

Co-sponsorship funds:  Funds can be used for presenter fees (including interpreters or other reasonable accommodations) and/or scholarships for people with developmental disabilities and their families to defray all or part of the registration fee for an individual to attend the conference.

Amount requested:  Please request only the amount of co-sponsorship funds that you are certain you will need for your conference. 

PLEASE NOTE:  Due to the funds available and the number of applications that may be received, the amount awarded by the Council to successful applicants may be less than requested and not all eligible applications may be funded.

Conference area: The conference can be marketed to a local community, region of the state, or statewide.  Please note your target audience(s) and, when applicable, encourage attendance by persons from diverse populations.

Evaluation:  A Customer Satisfaction Survey is attached to the Application. Copies of the Survey will be provided to organizations that are awarded co-sponsorship funds and must be completed by conference participants. 

The Council's Five-Year State Plan includes specific performance measures and data collection requirements. Survey results and other data must be submitted to the Council within two weeks after the conference.  The actual payment of co-sponsorship funds will be made after receiving this summary and an invoice that identifies how funds were used.

Grant Review Committee members will make funding recommendations and bring their recommendations to the Council for approval.

Applications must be received no later than 5:00 PM (CST) on Friday, January 21, 2022.
