Earlier, you learned that caption editors usually generate a specialized file as your output. The file combines your transcript with timing information, laid out in a specific format.

Each player specifies where to locate the file on your web server. If you have a custom setup, then you may have an XML file managing that setup, including the location of the caption file.

For example:

As shown on the right, using the FLVPlaybackCaptioning component in Flash requires that you specify where the "source" of XML file that contains your captioning text.
