About      
The library of the State Services for the Blind offers books, newspapers, magazines and other printed materials in braille, e-text, and human narrated audio formats. The library is free of charge to individuals statewide. Our catalog contains more than 9,000 books produced at SSB.

Audio transcription services records text items for all ages of customers. The audio recording is designed to be used on a digital talking book player that we provide or to be downloaded in MP3 format. E-text and large print transcription services are also provided by the library.

Braille transcription services provides Braille materials for personal use free of charge to Minnesotans statewide who are blind or visually impaired.

Radio Talking Books is a free news and information streaming service that provides programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week to eligible listeners across Minnesota.

The SSB library maintains a strong partnership with the Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library that distributes a variety of accessible materials from the National Library Service.

Our Customers

The services in our Communication Center are available to anyone who has a disability that limits their ability to read print. This includes Minnesotans who are blind or have low vision, as well as those with physical limitations to/for holding a book and those with reading disabilities.
