Changes in Ownership, Location, or Name of Shop

  • Ownership Change: If you decide to sell your shop or you want to transfer ownership to someone else, you will need to have the new owner fill out a Change of Ownership application and submit it to the Board of Barber Examiners with the required fee. Download or print out the application here.  It will take at least 2 weeks to process the application, so the new owner will need to submit the application to the Board as soon as the sale is complete.
  • Location Change: If you are planning to move your shop to a new location, you will need to complete a Change of Location application and submit it to the Board of Barber Examiners within 30 days of your move. Download or print out the application here.
  • Name Change: If you change the name of your shop, you will need to register the new name with the Minnesota Secretary of State. You will also need to inform the Board of Barber Examiners by sending the Board a copy of the new Certificate of Assumed Name from the Secretary of State's office.
