Making a Complaint

The Board has a Complaint Committee, as authorized by Minnesota Statute Chapter 214, consisting of three Barber Board members appointed by the Board Chair. Board staff provide support and assistance to the Committee in gathering information and processing complaints. A designee from the Attorney General Office provides legal counsel to the Committee. The Board of Barber Examiners Complaint Committee meets in closed session on a bimonthly schedule. Additional meetings are scheduled when necessary.

Authority

The Board has the authority to investigate and take action when a violation of Minnesota Statutes Chapter 154 or Minnesota Rules Chapter 2100 has occurred. The Board of Barber Examiners has no authority to refund money for barbering services or regulate the fees charged for barbering services.

To File a Complaint

Print the complaint form from the link below, complete the form and return it to the Board. Provide detailed information including names, dates, times, location, what happened or what you witnessed, and the names and contact information of other witnesses.  Attach any supporting documentation you may have. The Barber Board cannot investigate complaints without a signed statement of complaint and a complete Authorization to Release Information authorizing or declining to authorize the release of information.
