Newly Dedicated Worker’s Memorial Plaque
Minnesota sixth graders are responsible for making this memorial plaque a reality. And it’s a new addition to the State Capitol following the just-completed restoration project! In 2015, some savvy students persuaded the Minnesota state legislature to authorize the plaque, inspired by a classroom discussion about the workers who lost their lives during the State Capitol’s original construction.
From there, all of Minnesota’s sixth graders took part in a statewide competition to choose the plaque’s final design. Track it down to both celebrate these impressive students and honor the memory of those workers who built our Capitol.
