“Usually students are at a high level of frustration with reading and writing prior to contacting me. I wish they would contact me sooner, as they are only allowed 1 semester of probation. If they have been out of school for a while, they should have followed up with previous recommendations made based on the diagnosis.”

“The student has hopefully already been using A T (assistive technology) in school. They should know who is supporting them – OT (occupational therapist), PT (physical therapist), SLP (speech-language pathologist), glossary icon Paraprofessional, etc. and be exploring where they will get these supports in the community where they will live/go to school. They should know how their equipment is funded and if it is theirs or the schools.”
