2015: Family Support Grant Program Results
Minnesota offers the Family Support Grant Program (FSG) to provide cash grants to families of children with certified disabilities. The goal is to prevent or delay out-of-home placement of children with disabilities and promote family health and social well-being by providing access to family-centered services and supports. The FSG must be used to purchase services and items that are not covered by Medical Assistance (MA) or private insurance. Some examples include specialized equipment, day care, respite care, education services, and computers.
In FY 2015, the average monthly recipients totaled 1,810.
- $2,698,346 in state funds were spent on the Family Support Grant Program.
- There is a maximum grant of $3,113.99 allowed for each child with a disability.
- The Consumer Support Grant is a different option that also provides cash grants to replace fee-for-service home care services payments.
- Please note that children receiving a Consumer Support Grant or personal care assistance services are not eligible to receive FSG at the same time.
