Minimum Qualifications: • Must be at least 18 years of age. • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license that is accepted by the State of Minnesota. Applicants must NOT have taken or passed the MN Board of P.O.S.T. licensing exam. • Must submit to a thorough background investigation • Must not have been convicted of any disqualifiers under MN State Statutes (Section 609.2-609.7) or any felony or crime that would be a felony if it had been committed in the state of Minnesota. • Must be deemed mentally and physically able to perform the duties of the position. Education: • Must be accepted/enrolled into a regionally accredited college/university law enforcement program (not required to be registered for classes). Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree will be highly encouraged. Police cadets, who become POST license eligible, may be considered for promotional opportunities to the position of police officer if an opening exists. The Inver Grove Heights Police Department will assess a cadet's promotional suitability after completion of academic training, based on, but not limited to, field performance, assignment rotations, and patrol Sergeant recommendations.
