Accessibility's Value

The iTunes website is an example of how an accessible site can be vibrant and interesting.

Captioning online video is part of a general push to make websites more accessible to all users.

“That's fine,” you ask, “but what will it cost me?”

That's up to you and your development team, if you have one.

If you build accessibility into your requirements documents, it might actually save your organization money, while increasing your site's visibility and usability. Accessible websites tend to be easier for everyone to use, more focused on content than glitz, and work on a wider variety of more platforms and browsers, including mobile devices.

Accessible websites do not need to be boring websites. Color, fonts, navigation, layout, media, and other elements are all key components of accessible websites.
