Best Practices

Work Well's mission is to create a workplace culture that supports and encourages the healthy intentions of each employee and visitor, with the outcome of a measurably healthier, more productive workforce.

We can measure that! Each year, agency wellness committees complete a wellness environmental assessment. The results create a snapshot of each workplace through a wellness lens and focus our wellness committees on workplace changes-programs, policies and facilities-that support the health and wellbeing of employees.

The assessment measures best practices for a healthy eating environment, being active during the work day, mental wellness and resilience, tobacco-use, safety, and preparedness for medical emergencies. As agencies complete the assessment year after year, we map our progress within agencies and across state government.

Here is a look at 2013's summary data for 24 reporting agencies. On average, agencies achieved 60% of wellness best practices.
