Public Transportation Use
Transit is an alternative to driving that can reduce congestion, fuel consumption, and greenhouse emissions. Transit connects people to jobs, education, health care, shopping, and recreation. Transit systems also enhance the mobility of the elderly and persons with disabilities in communities across the state.
Ridership is measured as the total number of transit boardings in both the Twin Cities metropolitan area and in Greater Minnesota. Data is compiled continuously and reported annually.
