The Kids Count Report provides a national comparison of children’s well-being. The well-being of children is an important determinant of their success as adults. Supportive and nurturing relationships promote children's emotional security, social development and academic achievement. In the 2017 Kids Count Report, Minnesota was ranked fourth out of 50 states. Since 2000, Minnesota has ranked between first and fifth overall among all states. However, Minnesota continues to experience significant disparities in outcomes for children of color.
